These videos require the Divx 5 codec installed and configured. For Windows, I recommend downloading and installing the K-Lite Codec Pack which contains all the codecs for popular movie formats.

About the animated thumbnails... I had seen these types of thumbnails before. They look like video, only they are animated GIFs. I thought that they would be great for this. I couldn't find anything that did it via a Linux CLI, so I wrote a quick script to do it for me. It requires transcode and imagemagick. Here it is if anyone is interested: anithumb.sh |
